Our Story

Jennifer and Andrew met at a Shabbat Dinner table for The American Friends of the Israel Museum. They both showed up not knowing anyone. Fortunately, they were seated next to one another at the dining room table. Jenn shared her passion for contemporary art and theater and Andrew was immediately taken aback by her elegance, poise, charisma, and charm. He had to ask her out and she gave him her phone number at the end of the night!

On their first date they immediately felt comfortable with one another. They realized they had so much in common, from both going to Camp Laurel South, to both being lefties, to both graduating college early. Jenn, a loyal Grey’s Anatomy fan, was smitten when Andrew shared stories of being an EMT in college. She was also thoroughly impressed when he spoke about the time he biked across America. They quickly realized their admiration for one another!

Over the first few months of dating, Jennifer and Andrew went on dates to The Whitney, The Guggenheim, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Jenn introduced Andrew to her favorite desserts such as Philly Fluff Cake, Baked Alaska, and Banana Flambé. And together they enjoyed ice skating, skiing, and nature walks.

As they started spending more and more time together, they decided it was time to plan their first trip together. In the leadup to the trip Andrew needed to tell Jenn something important, so he found a cupcake shaped card and wrote her a note along with a gift.

He wrote:

Jennifer

I truly mean it every time I say how much I adore you. You lift up everyone around you. You do it with such consideration to make the world around you that much better. You inspire those around you. You have made me a better version of myself. I hope we can continue growing together for a long time to come. I have fallen in love with you

Andrew

And needless to say, Jennifer was falling in love with Andrew too.

As their love continued to grow, it was clear to both of them how happy they made each other. They were committed to building their life together!

Andrew knew he had to come up with something special for the proposal that would match Jenn’s creativity. Jenn and Andrew had gone on many a date night to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. On one date night when they were in the American Wing’s Charles Englehard Court, Jenn said it was her favorite room in the museum. Andrew knew that had to be the place he would propose!

Friday, April 12, Andrew told Jenn they would have an elegant date night in honor of their 18-month anniversary, which was that previous Wednesday night. Andrew started by taking Jenn to the Contemporary Wing, where they display many of her favorite artists. After exploring the art, they made their way to the American Wing. He brought her to the balcony overlooking the room.

They were hugging when Andrew got down on one knee and said:

Jenn

I love you with all my heart.

You are the best of who one can be. You inspire me to be a better man. You teach me how to be kinder. How to be more thoughtful. How to be a better friend. I look up to you.

You are my best friend. I want to build my life with you. Will you marry me?

She said yes!

They celebrated nearby at The Mark with their families and all shared in a Shabbat dinner, just like the night they met.

And now with our family and friends, we hope to share our love story with you at our wedding. We cannot wait to see you there!
